Traveling with children can sometimes seem like too much trouble especially for a long trip with very young children, because of the potential chaos that might ensue.

Yet if you prepare properly for traveling with  children, can relate well to your children, and set some ground rules, then things can potentially go a lot smoother in the long run.  Keep Them Occupied

Good things for children to do while traveling depends on the child’s age. You can bring coloring books for younger children, electronic games for the slightly older children and let others indulge in listening to some music.

There are plenty of activities that children love, so let each child do what you think he or she would enjoy the most.

You’re going to want to provide as much comfort for your children as possible. A good way to do this is to let them do something they enjoy while you travel.

Give them their favorite electronic toys to play with or have them read books so they stay distracted throughout the entire flight or car ride.

 Do Not Take Children On a Business Trip

Make sure you’re bringing your children along for a good reason. You don’t want to bring children along on a business trip if they aren’t going to get to do anything but sit in the hotel all day long, it is not fair on them.

Have Rules

Set some ground rules so your family does not get out of control. Just tell them to each respect everyone else’s space, keep it quiet when others are sleeping and clean up whenever they get a chance. When you remind everyone to do these things, they normally don’t cause any trouble or harm.

Think about the activities that everyone in the whole family will enjoy. If you’re going to Brisbane, then to take the family to Australia  Zoo might be a good option, Zoos are always fun for the whole family, and pleasant shows are always activities everyone can enjoy.

Don’t  Forget Wipes and Towels

Make sure you bring along all essentials that you need to keep good hygiene. You’re also going to want to bring enough clothes and a couple of extra pieces of clothing to ensure that you are prepared for the trip. Just make a list and double-check that you have everything before you leave, and you should be fine.

The Ipswich Railway Workshops are now the oldest operating rail yards in Australia. The workshops were needed to assemble the locomotives and rolling stock and to do the repairs railways which expanded very quickly making demands on the workshop.

The first railway workshops were established at the North Ipswich rail yards in 1865, the workshops were established in Queensland when skilled workers were needed to service the railway, running from Ipswich to Toowoomba.  Ipswich became the centre for the railway workshops as well as being the base for rail construction and maintenance for Queensland.

Today the Ipswich Railway workshops are also the Rail Museum and it still has areas where they are  making items needed by the railway, for instance the hammers to drive the spikes the folks to take the old spikes out, when repairs are needed, as well as the couplings for the coal trains.

The Whole Family

This is a great place for the whole family, we spent the afternoon at the museum and still didn’t see everything.

We had no children with us but we saw plenty of children and they all were enjoying the day.
